In a recent tweet, he advised players experiencing performance problems in version 1.6 to “remove all hats from pets.” When a player inquired about the lore behind this peculiar issue, Barone humorously attributed it to “a strange rash” affecting the pets’ ears.
“There are rumors of a strange rash affecting pets’ ears in Zuzu City,” Barone elaborated, responding to the playful inquiry about the game’s lore. “We just want to make sure those ears can breathe for a few days.” This quirky explanation highlights Barone’s commitment to integrating fun lore into the game, even when addressing bugs.
This isn’t the first time Barone has provided a lore-friendly rationale for a bug in Stardew Valley. Recently, players reported that chickens were mysteriously vanishing from their coops. In response, Barone humorously noted, “Lore: There is a wild coyote on the farm day 1 rn.” This revelation likely sent shivers down the spines of players, including those who are particularly fond of their virtual livestock.
While the chicken disappearance bug has since been resolved, the issue related to the excessive hats on pets is still under investigation. Barone assured fans, “We will address the problem as soon as possible.”
